Facebook pauses some political spending after Capitol riot

Fb introduced Monday that it could pause its contributions to political motion committees after final week’s lethal assault on the US Capitol, as first reported by Axios.

“Following final week’s terrible violence in DC, we’re pausing all of our PAC contributions for not less than the present quarter, whereas we overview our insurance policies,” Fb spokesperson Danial Robert advised The Verge in an announcement Monday.

Twitter formally closed its PAC in November. “In step with our perception that political affect needs to be earned, not purchased, Twitter will formally shut its Political Motion Committee; #PAC. #PAC has not made donations to candidates since 2018 and is donating the remaining funds to assist non-partisan voter registration actions,” a Twitter spokesperson stated in an announcement on the time.
